IPTV Surrey: Punjabi channels first, the Canucks second, one bill for the whole house

Surrey is the one city in Canada where a TV service should lead with Punjabi and treat hockey as the second question. A Newton household with grandparents upstairs, parents commuting over the Port Mann and teenagers in the basement suite needs cricket from India, the Canucks on Sportsnet Pacific and a way to watch a 4 pm start after the drive home, without three theme packs. BuyIPTV.ca does that from $22 CAD, tested on Telus PureFibre and Rogers from Whalley to South Surrey.

IPTV Surrey regional feeds

Which Surrey feeds you actually get

Surrey shares Vancouver’s broadcast region but not its priorities, so the default line-up is set differently.

IPTV Surrey: TV guide with the regional feeds included in the subscription

Surrey is in the Sportsnet Pacific region, which means Canucks regional games are on Sportsnet Pacific and nowhere else. Plenty of IPTV services sold to Canadians carry a single Sportsnet feed, generally Ontario, and never mention it. We carry all four regions plus One and 360, and a Surrey login opens on Pacific. The one thing we do differently from Vancouver is put OMNI BC and the Punjabi channels at the top of the favourites, because in Surrey that is where the remote goes first.

Local news is the Vancouver stations, since Surrey has no broadcast newsroom of its own: Global BC, CTV Vancouver, CBC Vancouver and Citytv are all included live, and that is where the city follows the police transition, the SkyTrain extension down Fraser Highway and council. OMNI BC’s Punjabi newscast covers Surrey in a way the English stations do not, and Knowledge Network is there for the households that want it.

The rest of the channel list is national: 20,000+ live channels, 100,000+ titles on demand, US and UK networks, 4K where broadcast.

IPTV Surrey Sports

Cricket, kabaddi, the Canucks, and the 4 pm problem for Port Mann commuters

Cricket comes first in a lot of Surrey living rooms, and it is the sport cable serves worst. Willow and Star Sports carry the IPL, India’s tours, the World Cups and the Pakistan Super League, and they are in the base plan rather than a $20 add-on. Kabaddi is the other one: the tournaments carried on PTC Punjabi and the other Punjabi channels, drawing the same crowd that turns out for Surrey’s summer cups, are included because the channels are. Punjabi Hockey Night in Canada on OMNI is on Saturday nights alongside the English broadcast on CBC and Sportsnet.

The Canucks’ regional games are Sportsnet Pacific, national games are CBC and Sportsnet, and the playoffs go to the national Sportsnet and TSN feeds. The BC Lions are TSN. For the commuter, though, the schedule is the problem: a 7 pm ET start is 4 pm here, and if you work in Vancouver or Burnaby you are on the Expo Line or crawling over the Port Mann when the puck drops. Seven-day catch-up fixes it. Open the guide, go back to the start, and watch from the anthem at 7:30 as though it were live. The same works for a Test match that started at 10 pm Pacific and finished while you slept.

Premier League on Sportsnet and Sky Sports, Champions League on TSN and DAZN feeds, and the Seahawks on Sundays are there too. Pro subscribers get UFC and boxing pay-per-view.

IPTV Surrey Languages

Channels for a city where Punjabi is the second language of the whole municipality

Telus and Rogers sell the South Asian pack as an extra. Here it is the base plan, next to everything else Surrey speaks.

Newton, from the Payal Business Centre along 128 Street to Scott Road: PTC Punjabi, Zee Punjabi, Chardikla Time TV, PTC Chakde for the music, Alpha ETC Punjabi, plus the Hindi mainstays, Star Plus, Sony, Colors and Zee TV, and Urdu channels, Geo, ARY and Hum, for the Pakistani families on the same streets. Gurdwara programming and the kirtan channels are included for the households that leave one on all day. Guildford and Fleetwood, where the mix is broader: the same list, with TFC and GMA Pinoy TV for the Filipino community around Guildford Town Centre, and Cantonese and Mandarin for the families who moved out from Richmond.

Whalley and City Centre, with the new towers around Surrey Central and the university campus: Arabic, Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese for a younger, more mixed population. Cloverdale and South Surrey lean toward the English mainstream and the US and UK networks, which are covered as well. The mix follows the Statistics Canada census profile for the city, which is the list we work from when we set up regional and language groups.

Everything is grouped by country in the app with the guide in the broadcaster’s language where one exists, and it costs nothing extra. In a multi-generational house, the Pro plan’s five screens mean the grandparents’ Punjabi news, the cricket in the family room and the kids’ cartoons in the suite run at the same time without anyone taking a turn.

IPTV Surrey Internet

Does IPTV Surrey work on Telus and Rogers?

Yes, and on the resellers that use their lines. The service needs about 15 Mbps per screen for Full HD and 25 Mbps for 4K; the cheapest Telus PureFibre and Rogers cable tiers sold in Surrey are many times that. Telus ran fibre through most of Surrey’s newer subdivisions early, so a Fleetwood or Clayton house on PureFibre is on one of the better home connections in the country. Rogers, which absorbed Shaw’s BC cable network in 2023, is well above the threshold too, though on older coax in parts of Whalley the upload is thin, which matters for video calls rather than TV.

The IPTV Surrey problem is the size of the house. A 3,000 square foot home in Panorama Ridge with the router in the front hall and the TV in a finished basement two floors down is a Wi-Fi problem, not an IPTV one, and it shows up as buffering at 9 pm when five devices are online. A mesh kit or a second access point in the basement fixes it; an Ethernet run to the family-room TV fixes it for good. Our buffering guide covers the settings that matter, and support runs 9 am to 11 pm ET, which is 6 am to 8 pm Pacific.

IPTV Surrey needs no VPN on any BC provider. If you use one anyway, choose a Vancouver server so the guide and regional feeds stay Pacific.

Getting started with IPTV Surrey

Watching in Surrey in about ten minutes

IPTV Surrey in about ten minutes. New to this? Read what IPTV costs in Canada and whether IPTV is legal in Canada first, then pick the best IPTV app for Firestick or the device you own and follow the steps.

  1. Request the free trial and type “Surrey” in the city field so your login opens on Sportsnet Pacific with the Punjabi channels and OMNI BC in your favourites. Already decided? Buy IPTV in Canada directly and skip the trial.
  2. Install a player while you wait: IPTV Smarters Pro on a Firestick or Android TV, IBO Player on a Samsung or LG. The setup guides take five minutes and cover MAG and Formuler boxes.
  3. Test it in the basement, on the TV furthest from the router, during a cricket match or a 4 pm Canucks start you watch later. If it holds, subscribe; if not, tell support the house layout and provider and we will fix it or say plainly that we cannot.
  4. Pay by Interac e-Transfer from Khalsa Credit Union, Coast Capital, Vancity or any bank, or by card in CAD. Activation is automatic when payment clears.

Neighbourhoods

IPTV Surrey by neighbourhood: towers to strata townhomes

IPTV Surrey runs the same wherever the app is installed, but Surrey is unusually spread out for one municipality, six town centres each with their own wiring history. Whalley and City Centre’s new towers are mostly on Telus PureFibre; Guildford’s older highrises still run original Shaw, now Rogers, coax risers. Fleetwood and Newton mix newer fibre streets with older postwar coax, sometimes on the same block; Cloverdale leans fibre-first, and South Surrey and White Rock get PureFibre near Grandview Corners and coax closer to the water.

Basement suites, common across Surrey, usually share the main house’s internet rather than holding a separate account, fine for IPTV Surrey as one of the household’s screens but not as its own subscription. Check with the strata or bulk internet provider before ordering: some contracts route every unit through one shared connection.

A week in Surrey

A week of IPTV Surrey: what Pacific time actually means for game night

Most weeks on IPTV Surrey start with the Canucks. Home games are on Sportsnet Pacific, and because the NHL schedules on Eastern time, a 7 pm Eastern puck drop against a Toronto or Montreal opponent lands at 4 pm here, mid-afternoon for anyone still at work. BC Lions and Whitecaps matches shift the same way.

Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada doubleheader works in Surrey’s favour. The early game, often two eastern teams at 7 pm Eastern, starts at 4 pm here, easy to have on before dinner. The late game, usually a Canucks, Flames or Oilers matchup, keeps a normal 7 pm Pacific start even though it airs after 10 pm Eastern. OMNI BC’s Punjabi broadcast follows the same West Coast schedule.

Premier League sits at the other end of the gap. A 12:30 pm UK kickoff lands at 4:30 am Pacific, before sunrise here; the more common 3 pm UK kickoff is a reasonable 7 am. Seven-day catch-up turns any of it, cricket included, into a normal evening watch.

Switching to IPTV Surrey

Switching to IPTV Surrey from Telus or Shaw/Rogers

Keep the internet line and cancel only the television part — the whole move for most IPTV Surrey switchers. Telus Optik and Rogers, which absorbed Shaw’s cable TV business in 2023, both drop the TV tier and box rental through the online account centre, keeping the internet plan untouched. Confirm the internet-only rate in writing.

Dropping the TV tier usually breaks a bundle discount worth $10 to $20 a month, so the internet-only invoice for an IPTV Surrey household commonly lands higher than before. Return every rented box and remote, or arrange a Canada Post label, to avoid an equipment charge later.

What IPTV Surrey households usually miss first is the single remote for power, volume and channel; a universal remote programmed to the streaming box recovers most of that. A cable PVR library does not carry over. Run the free trial on the actual television and Wi-Fi before touching the account, so cancelling becomes a formality, not a risk.

IPTV Surrey questions

IPTV Surrey FAQ: what people ask before they sign up

Which Punjabi channels are included?

PTC Punjabi, Zee Punjabi, Chardikla Time TV, PTC Chakde, Alpha ETC Punjabi and the gurdwara and kirtan channels, alongside the Hindi and Urdu networks. The full list is on the international channels page; none of it costs extra.

Is cricket included, or is it an add-on?

Included. Willow and Star Sports are in the base plan, covering the IPL, India and Pakistan tours and the ICC tournaments. Catch-up lets you watch an overnight match next morning.

Do I get Punjabi Hockey Night in Canada?

Yes. OMNI BC is included, which carries the Punjabi broadcast on Saturday nights, and Sportsnet Pacific carries the Canucks’ regional games in English.

Can five people in one house watch different things at once?

On the Pro plan, yes: five screens on one subscription, in different rooms, on different channels. Standard allows two.

Will it work in a basement suite on Telus or Rogers?

Yes, if the Wi-Fi reaches. Both providers are far above the speed needed. In a large house, a mesh point or a wired connection to the basement TV is the reliable fix. Test during the trial on that TV.

Is this the same service as the Vancouver page?

Same plan, same price. We keep a Surrey page because the default favourites, the language mix and the commute are different, and Surrey deserves better than a line in a Vancouver article.

Does IPTV Surrey work the same in a Whalley tower as in a South Surrey house?

Yes, the app and channel list are identical everywhere. Whalley’s newer towers are mostly on Telus PureFibre; older Guildford highrises and some South Surrey streets are still on Shaw-era Rogers coax, which is fine for one or two streams. Check with the strata in a highrise before ordering if the building routes internet through a bulk contract.

What happens to my Telus or Shaw/Rogers bundle discount if I switch to IPTV Surrey?

Dropping the TV tier typically removes a bundle discount worth $10 to $20 a month, so the internet-only bill can be higher than the bundled rate. Ask for the exact internet-only price before cancelling television, and return any rented boxes to avoid an equipment charge.
