- A Samsung TV needs you signed in to a Samsung account before Smart Hub will download any app. LG asks you to sign in to an LG account first as well.
- IPTV Smarters on Samsung is free and published by whmcssmarters. Check the seller name, because lookalike apps use similar names.
- Activation fees are paid to the app developer, once per TV: €5.49 for Smart IPTV and €6.79 for NET IPTV. IBO Player charges €5 a year or €10 for life.
- If no IPTV app appears on your TV, Samsung’s own advice is an external device. A Fire TV Stick or Android TV box with TiviMate is the usual answer.
Which IPTV apps can you get on a Samsung or LG TV in Canada?
Neither TV lets you sideload Android apps, so the store decides. Samsung’s Canadian support page says it plainly: an app you cannot find is probably incompatible with your TV model, and this happens more often on older sets. LG says the same thing in its help library: supported apps vary by country and by model, and each app supports certain webOS versions.
The table lists the player apps whose availability and pricing are published on the developer’s own site or on an official store listing. Prices are in euros because the developers are based in Europe, so your card converts the charge to Canadian dollars.
| App | Samsung (Tizen) | LG (webOS) | Cost | Free trial | How your playlist gets in |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| IPTV Smarters (whmcssmarters) | Yes | Not confirmed | Free | None | Xtream login typed into the app |
| IBO Player (IBO DEV Ltd) | Yes | Yes | €5 a year or €10 lifetime | 7 days | Playlist link added on the developer’s website |
| IBO Player Pro | Yes, listed as “Ib Player Pro” | Yes, per the developer | One-time activation, price not on the listing | 7 days | Playlist managed on iboproapp.com |
| Smart IPTV (SIPTV) | 2022+ models only (Tizen 6.5+) | webOS 3.0+, with a separate older version | €5.49 once per TV | Not stated | File or URL uploaded at siptv.app with the TV’s MAC |
| NET IPTV | Yes (developer lists 2016 to 2020 TVs) | webOS 1.0 to 5.0 | €6.79 once per device | Yes, length not stated | URL added on netiptv.eu with the MAC or app ID |
| SS IPTV | No, missing from Smart Hub | Yes, any country | Free, no activation | None | Link typed in the app, or a file sent with a connection code |
IPTV Smarters is confirmed on Samsung’s US app catalogue. Its listing was last updated in October 2023, and LG availability depends on the model, so search your own TV before you count on it. Our IPTV Smarters guide walks through the login screen.
What each app costs and how it logs in
IPTV Smarters
Samsung’s listing names the seller as whmcssmarters, lists the app as free and mentions Xtream Codes API support. You type the server address, username and password with the TV remote. Nothing has to be done on a website, which makes it the easiest start on a Samsung TV.
IBO Player
IBO DEV Ltd sells the licence on its own store at activation.iboplayer.com: €5 for one year or €10 for a lifetime licence, after a 7-day trial. The developer lists Samsung and LG among its platforms. The app shows its MAC address on the start screen, and the playlist is uploaded on the developer’s site, as the app’s App Store description explains. Many shops resell “IBO activations”, so pay only on the developer’s own store.
IBO Player Pro
A separate app with its own site, iboproapp.com, which links to listings on Samsung and LG. On Samsung’s catalogue it appears as “Ib Player Pro”, sold by Kuailue-OTT-Team. The listing says it is free for 7 days and that activation is applied once. It does not show the price.
Smart IPTV (SIPTV)
The developer charges a one-time fee of €5.49 for each TV or device. The current Samsung version, 3.1.3, is for Tizen 6.5 and newer, meaning 2022 and later models, and it installs as a new app from the store. It does not update the old 3.0.105 version. LG webOS 3.0 and newer get the same version. On the siptv.app/mylist page you enter the TV’s MAC, then upload a playlist file or paste a playlist URL. The upload page has no Xtream fields. On LG, app version 3.0.0 and later shows a device ID instead of the MAC address, and that ID is what you enter.
NET IPTV
NET IPTV’s site states a one-time activation fee of €6.79 per device, and its FAQ confirms you pay only once for a MAC address. The upload page takes the MAC or app ID plus a playlist URL, with automatic updates. The developer’s own list of supported TVs is old: Samsung models from 2016 to 2020 and LG webOS 1.0 to 5.0. On a newer TV, check the store before paying.
SS IPTV
SS IPTV is free and has no activation step. The developer says it can be installed from LG’s store in any country, and that it is not available in Samsung’s Smart Hub. On LG you can add any number of playlist links in the app’s settings under Content, External playlists. A single uploaded playlist file uses a connection code from the app instead, and that code expires after 24 hours.
How to activate an IPTV app with the MAC address, step by step
The paid apps share one pattern. The TV app is a blank player, and the developer’s website is where your playlist goes.
- Install the app. On a Samsung TV, press Home, press left to open the menu, select Search and type the app’s name. On LG, sign in to your LG account, select the search icon at the top right and install from the result.
- Open the app. It shows a MAC address, or on some LG versions a device ID. Some apps also show a device key, which works like a password for that TV. Duplex IPTV is one example.
- Write the code down exactly. The characters are the digits 0 to 9 and the letters A to F, so there is never a letter O.
- On a phone or computer, open the developer’s website (the address appears in the app), enter the MAC or device ID, and add the playlist URL your provider sent you. Smart IPTV also accepts an uploaded file.
- Restart the app on the TV, or press its reload button. The channel list loads from what you uploaded.
- Watch during the trial. When it ends, pay the activation fee on the developer’s site for that same MAC.
A tip that saves money: start the app’s trial and our 24-hour free trial on the same day, and pay the activation only once channels play smoothly on that TV. The activation is tied to the TV, so it carries over if you ever change provider.
Xtream login or playlist link: what does your TV app need?
We can send a login in either format. Smarters wants the three-part Xtream login. The upload apps want a single M3U playlist link, which carries the same server, username and password packed into one address. The M3U and Xtream guide shows how to tell them apart.
What if the IPTV app is not in your TV’s store?
- Check that you are signed in. Samsung says that without a Samsung account sign-in you cannot open or download any apps.
- Search the exact name and check the seller. Store search shows lookalikes with similar names, so match the developer named in the table.
- Check the model year. Smart IPTV needs a 2022 or newer Samsung. LG publishes the webOS version each app supports, and its online store lets you search by country and model.
- Try the next app on the list. On a Samsung TV older than 2022, NET IPTV or IBO Player may appear where Smart IPTV does not. On LG, SS IPTV is free to try.
- Plug in a streaming device. This is Samsung’s own suggestion when an app is missing. A Fire TV Stick or an Android TV box opens up TiviMate and the full Android app range.
Why are SET IPTV, Duplex Play and Flix IPTV missing?
All three are often recommended for smart TVs. SET IPTV and Duplex Play activations are sold by a long list of lookalike websites, and neither app has a developer site that clearly identifies itself, so prices and trial terms could not be confirmed. Duplex IPTV’s older official site does describe the device ID and device key method, with a 7-day trial. Flix’s own site lists only Android TV and Amazon Fire TV. If you choose any of them, pay only through a link inside the app itself.
What a smart TV app will not do as well as a streaming stick
TV apps are fine for evening news, series and the odd game. For a full season of hockey or a weekend of soccer, it pays to know where they fall short:
- Updates are slow. As of October 2026, the Samsung listing for IPTV Smarters showed its last update in October 2023. TiviMate’s Google Play listing, by comparison, was updated in June 2026.
- Older TVs fall behind. Samsung notes that app requirements keep rising and older hardware can stop meeting them.
- The activation is tied to one TV. A second TV needs its own fee, and Smart IPTV advises against a factory reset if you want to keep the same device ID.
If sports are the main reason you are switching from cable, a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box running TiviMate is usually the smoother setup. See the TiviMate setup guide. Our service works on both, so you can start on the TV app and add a stick later on the same plan, with up to 4 devices at once.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free IPTV app for a Samsung TV?
IPTV Smarters, published by whmcssmarters, is free in Samsung’s app store and takes an Xtream login. SS IPTV is free too, but its developer says it is not available in Samsung’s Smart Hub.
Is IPTV Smarters available on LG TVs?
It depends on the TV model and country, so search the LG Content Store on your own TV. If it is missing, IBO Player and Smart IPTV both list LG webOS support, and SS IPTV is free on LG.
How much does it cost to activate an IPTV app on a smart TV?
On the developers’ own sites, Smart IPTV costs €5.49 once per TV, NET IPTV €6.79 once per device, and IBO Player €5 a year or €10 for life. This fee is separate from your IPTV subscription.
Where do I find the MAC address in an IPTV app on my TV?
The app shows it on its start screen. On LG, newer versions of some apps show a device ID instead, and you use that ID in the same way.
Why can’t I find Smart IPTV on my Samsung TV?
The current Samsung version of Smart IPTV is for Tizen 6.5 and newer, which means 2022 and later models. On an older Samsung, try IPTV Smarters, IBO Player or NET IPTV.
Do I pay the activation again if I change IPTV provider?
No. The activation is tied to the TV’s MAC address or device ID. You upload the new provider’s playlist link on the developer’s website.
Can I use the same activation on two TVs?
Smart IPTV and NET IPTV both charge per TV or device, so each set needs its own activation.
