- The player is free and carries no channels. WHMCS Smarters says so in every store listing we checked.
- Apple devices use Smarters Player Lite from the App Store. Its optional Premium upgrade costs $2.99 in the Canadian store.
- The original app is not on Google Play in Canada, and similar names from other developers are. On Android, install it from the link your provider gives you.
- Use the Xtream login when the app offers it. The M3U link works too, but you may have to add the TV guide yourself.
Which version of IPTV Smarters goes on which device?
The name is the same everywhere, but where you get it changes by device. This is what the developer’s own store listings show as of September 2026.

On Apple devices the app needs iOS or iPadOS 15.6 or later, tvOS 12 or later, or a Mac with an M1 chip or newer running macOS 12.5 or later. That is what the App Store listing says.

Watch for copies of the name
Popular app names attract imitators, and Smarters has plenty. The original app’s Google Play listing no longer exists in Canada. An app called “IPTV Smarters Player” is on Google Play right now, but it comes from a different company. The Apple and Samsung versions are published by WHMCS Smarters. Before you install anything, check that the developer name matches. On Android, the safest source is the download link or code your provider sends. For our subscribers it is in the login email.
How to set it up on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV
- Install Smarters Player Lite. Search the App Store for “Smarters Player Lite” and check the developer is WHMCS Smarters. On an Apple TV, use the App Store on the TV itself.
- Open it and choose how to sign in. Pick the Xtream option if your version offers one. If not, choose to load a playlist from a URL.
- Enter your details. For Xtream, type the username, password and server address from your email. For the playlist option, paste the M3U link. Copying it from the email on the same iPhone saves a lot of typing.
- Let it load. The first download of a large playlist takes a minute or so. Live TV, movies and series then appear on the home screen.
The free app plays live TV. WHMCS Smarters sells one optional upgrade inside it: Premium at $2.99 in the Canadian store. You do not need it to watch. The App Store listing no longer shows a separate casting purchase.
How to set it up on a Samsung TV
Samsung TVs run Tizen, not Android, so the app comes from Samsung’s store. Press the home button, open Apps, search for “IPTV Smarters”, and check the seller is whmcssmarters before you install. Open it, choose the Xtream login, and enter your username, password and server address with the TV remote. It is slow typing, but you only do it once.
Whether it appears depends on your TV’s model and year. If the store does not show it, Samsung owners have two good options: IBO Player, which is set up from a phone, or a streaming stick plugged into the TV. Our setup hub covers both. LG’s store varies by model and region, so LG owners should search the LG Content Store first and fall back to the same options.
How to set it up on an Android phone, tablet or TV box
- Allow the install. Android asks for permission the first time you install an app from outside Google Play. Allow it for your browser, or for the Downloader app on an Android TV box.
- Download from your provider’s link. Open the link or enter the code from your login email, then install the file.
- Sign in with Xtream Codes. Enter any name, then your username, password and server address.
- Remove the installer file. It sits in your Downloads folder and is no longer needed.
On an Android TV box without a browser, install the Downloader app from Google Play first and enter the code there, exactly as on a Firestick.
Xtream login or M3U link: which should you use?
Most providers, us included, send both. They reach the same channels, but they behave differently once you are signed in.
The Xtream login is three separate fields: username, password and server address. Smarters uses them to ask the server for live channels, movies, series and the TV guide all at once, and it keeps them up to date. The M3U link packs the same login into one long web address. It is quicker to paste on a phone, but some versions of the app treat it as a plain channel list. Then the guide may be missing until you add its address separately. When the app offers both, choose Xtream.
To add an M3U link, choose the option to load a playlist or URL, paste the whole link from your email and give it a name. If the guide stays empty afterwards, our EPG guide explains how to attach it.
IPTV Smarters problems, and how to fix them
Login failed or “invalid credentials”
Check the server address first. It must start with http:// and include the port number after the colon. Then retype the password, watching for the letter O against the number zero and for a stray space at the end. If you copied the details from an email, the space is the usual suspect.
“Is Smarters Pro down?”
The app only plays what your provider sends, so it cannot go down in the way a streaming service can. If nothing plays on any device, check with your provider. Our status page shows outages on our side. If the same login works in another app, reinstall Smarters.
It plays on one TV but not on a third
Every plan has a limit on how many screens can play at once. Our plans cover one to four. A third TV on a 1- or 2-device plan will be refused until one of the others stops.
The guide is empty or the times are wrong
An empty guide usually means the listings have not downloaded yet, or the playlist was added as an M3U link without a guide. Wrong times almost always come from the device’s own time zone setting. Both are covered in our EPG guide.
Logging out or switching accounts
Smarters keeps a list of users on its main screen. Open it to sign out, remove a login or add a second one, such as a trial alongside a paid account.
Does IPTV Smarters work on Roku?
We could not confirm an official Smarters app for Roku from WHMCS Smarters, and we would rather say so than guess. Roku owners who want IPTV usually plug in a second device. A Fire TV Stick 4K Plus or a Google TV Streamer runs both Smarters and TiviMate.
