How to install IPTV Smarters Pro on a Firestick, step by step

IPTV Smarters Pro goes onto a Firestick through Amazon’s Downloader app, not the Fire TV app store. You switch on developer options, give Downloader permission to install apps, type in the download code from your login email, then sign in with your Xtream username, password and server address. The first time takes about ten minutes. Before you start, check your model: the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the newest Fire TV Stick HD cannot install it at all. If you still need a provider, see our best IPTV Canada plans and the free trial.

Key takeaways
  • IPTV Smarters is a player made by WHMCS Smarters. It has no channels of its own and needs a login from your provider.
  • On a Firestick it installs through the Downloader app. Your BuyIPTV.ca login email includes the download code.
  • Two current sticks run Amazon’s Vega OS and cannot install it: the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the second-generation Fire TV Stick HD.
  • Choose “Login with Xtream Codes API” when you sign in. It brings in the guide, the movies and the series automatically.

Can my Firestick install IPTV Smarters?

Most can, but check before you spend ten minutes on it. Amazon has started moving its newest sticks to Vega OS, a new operating system that only runs apps from the Amazon store. AFTVnews, the site behind the Downloader app, lists the two models affected in its June 2026 roundup: the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the second-generation Fire TV Stick HD.

The quick check is Settings, then My Fire TV, then About. If the software version starts with “Fire OS”, you are fine. If it says “OS” and the number starts with 1, the stick runs Vega OS and no sideloaded player will install on it.

If you are shopping for a stick for IPTV, the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and the 4K Max both still run Fire OS. TVs with Fire TV built in do too.

Before you start: the right app, from the right place

IPTV Smarters is published by a company called WHMCS Smarters. Its own store listings describe the app as a player that does not supply any content, and that is how it works. It is an empty shell until you add a login.

The name gets copied a lot. For example, an app called “IPTV Smarters Player” on Google Play right now comes from a different company. On a Firestick you avoid that problem by installing the file from the link or code your provider gives you, which for our subscribers is in the login email. Whatever the source, the developer name to look for is WHMCS Smarters.

Step 1: turn on developer options

Fire TV hides the setting that lets you install apps from outside the Amazon store. Go to Settings, then My Fire TV. If you see Developer Options, skip ahead. If not, open About, highlight the name of your device and press the select button on the remote seven times. Amazon’s own developer documentation describes this. A message confirms you are now a developer, and Developer Options appears one level up.

Step 2: install Downloader and allow it to install apps

  1. Get Downloader. Press the search button, type “Downloader” and install the app with the orange icon published by AFTVnews. It is free.
  2. Give it permission. Go back to Settings, My Fire TV, Developer Options, then Install unknown apps, and switch Downloader on. Older sticks have a single switch called Apps from Unknown Sources instead. Turn that on.
  3. Open Downloader once. Allow it access to files when it asks. It needs that to save the installer.

Step 3: download and install IPTV Smarters Pro

  1. Type the code. In Downloader’s address box, enter the short code from your login email and select Go. If you are with another provider, use the link they give you.
  2. Install. When the download finishes, Fire TV shows an install screen. Select Install, then Done rather than Open.
  3. Delete the installer. Downloader offers to delete the file you just downloaded. Say yes. It is no longer needed, and free storage keeps older sticks stable.
  4. Put the app somewhere easy to reach. Hold the home button, choose Apps, find IPTV Smarters, press the menu button and pick Move to front.

Step 4: sign in with your Xtream login

Open the app and accept the terms. It asks how you want to log in. Choose Login with Xtream Codes API. The other options work, but this one brings in the channel guide, the movie library and the series without any extra steps.

  1. Any name. Anything you like. “BuyIPTV” or your family name is fine.
  2. Username and password. Exactly as they appear in the email. Both are case-sensitive.
  3. Server address. The full address from the email, starting with http:// and ending with the port number after the colon. Leaving out the port is the most common reason a first login fails.
  4. Add user. The app downloads the channel list, movies and series. With 30,000 channels this takes somewhere between thirty seconds and a minute and a half.

When it finishes you see Live TV, Movies and Series. Open Live TV, pick the Canada group and you are watching. Typing on a TV remote is slow. If your phone is on the same Wi-Fi, Amazon’s Fire TV app turns it into a remote with a proper keyboard.

After the first time, a reinstall takes about two minutes.

Everyday use: favourites, the guide and logging out

Scrolling 30,000 channels with a remote gets old fast. Build a favourites list in the first week: hold the select button on a channel and add it to favourites. TSN, Sportsnet, CBC and your local news cover most evenings. The favourites group then sits at the top of Live TV.

Smarters has a TV guide view that shows what is on now and next across channels. It fills in from your provider’s listings, and it shows nothing until they have downloaded. If it stays empty, our EPG guide explains why. To sign out or switch accounts, use the user list on the app’s main screen. That is also where you add a second login, such as a trial and a paid account side by side.

IPTV Smarters problems on Firestick, and the fixes

The login fails straight away

Usually it is the server address. Check that it starts with http://, that the port number is there after the colon, and that there is no space at the end. Then retype the password slowly. The letter O and the number zero look alike on the on-screen keyboard.

“Is Smarters Pro down?”

The app streams nothing itself, so it cannot be down in the way a service can. If every channel fails at the same moment, the problem is the provider or your connection. Our status page shows any outage on our side. If only one channel fails, try another feed of the same channel.

The app crashes or freezes

Low storage is the usual cause on older sticks. Check it under Settings, My Fire TV, About. Clear the app’s cache under Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications, or remove apps you no longer use. If crashes continue, uninstall Smarters and reinstall it through Downloader. Your login details are in the email, so nothing is lost.

Buffering during the game

Buffering that only happens at busy times is nearly always the network, not the app. Plug the stick into its own power adapter rather than the TV’s USB port, and if the router is more than a room away, use Amazon’s Ethernet adapter. The troubleshooting section of our setup hub goes through the rest in order.

Smarters or TiviMate on a Firestick?

Both install the same way and take the same login, so try both. Smarters is simpler to get going and handles movies and series well. TiviMate has the better channel guide on a remote, but its best features need a paid Premium upgrade. Our TiviMate guide covers the install code and what Premium costs, and our Firestick app comparison covers which apps suit Canadian channels.
